Volt Ink and Momofuku Milk Bar were just release and arrived at my doorstep! No better way to spend the morning than with coffee and a good inspirational book.
VOLT ink.: Recipes, Stories, Brothers is about the brothers on Top Chef Brian and Michael Voltagio. THe Voltagio brothers take on a family/set of ingredients and interpreting those ingredients into 2 dishes that showcase their different approaches to cooking and styles, while highlighting the Americana flavors and traditions of their upbringing. Modern techniques are discussed and elaborated and plating/execution are explained in full detail to reproduce at home or in a commercial kitchen. The photography is awesome.
Momofuku Milk Bar Christina Tosi, Pastry Chef of the infamous Momofuku, details the struggles and history of the rising Momofuku empire. Ideology and methodology on baking are exhibited and her passion for baking/food/organization are deeply woven into the pages. Designed in the style of Momofuku, the first book written, which is also an excellent reference to have. "... with tight spaces and limited resources, we quickly learned that boundaries and limitations breed creativity".
